Dr. Xia's student Morayo Adebiyi (now called, Dr. Adebiyi-Uchendu) defended her thesis successfully! Morayo has been an essential team member to the lab. She has acquired many important skills that she has contributed to drive key projects, such as bone marrow transplantation and maintenance of the SCD Berkley mouse colony. She also holds an NIH diversity grant that has enabled her to pursue her academic career outstandingly, winning several scholarships and awards throughout her journey. She is now diligently preparing two first-author manuscripts while she anticipates the arrival of her child this summer. The lab looks forward to seeing her walk across the stage during the graduation ceremony where she will finally be hooded as a doctorate holder in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology!
